Intent to Return: DC Teachers Demand Answers First

This week’s “Community thru Covid” on We Act Radio looks at re-opening plans for DC Public Schools, as teachers are asked to file an “intent to return” statement prior to DCPS “having provided specifics around the conditions of our schools and the protections in place for staff and students to ensure safety,” according to the Washington Teachers’ Union. WTU President Elizabeth Davis joins us at the top of the hour to discuss this and other pandemic-related concerns for school re-opening. Tune in for audio or catch us via FB Live. Recordings available shortly after show time.

Only 17% of teachers surveyed said their school had enough space for reopening in pandemic conditions. From WTU’s “Reopening Our Schools” report

In the second half of the program, we are joined by Kathy Carroll, president of the American Association of School Librarians.
