People’s Demands; ReOpen DC Education

This week on We Act Radio’s “Community Under Covid” —

The People’s Demands DC were developed with input from thousands of residents and organizations in the District to reflect “survival, growth, and the DC we want to live in” as we respond to Covid-19 and existing inequities. Demands, released on May 14, include disability rights, housing, health, education, incarceration, and worker justice (learn more). Hear from those helped create the citywide demands and learn about next steps. Top of the hour, 11 a.m. EDT, May 27.

Meanwhile, community members joined in a government-based process to create ReOpen DC, including plans for phased approaches to re-opening childcare and education. Hear from those who helped create ReOpen DC education plans, released May 21, check in on how students and educators are managing now and concerns as summer and a new academic year approach. 11:30 EDT, May 27.
