Ramadan and Pandemic with Center DC

Top of the Hour: Lauren Schreiber, Center DC. How are local Muslims managing the holy month in pandemic, planning for Eid Al Fitr, and coping with funding challenges? Plus upcoming programs and Ward 8 food distribution —

Lauren Schreiber, co-founder of Center DC, an independent, local group for those practicing and exploring Islam, welcoming to all. Visit their Facebook page and other social media platforms for updated information about connecting during Ramadan, for the festival of Eid al Fitr, and beyond.

Amir Muhammad, founder of America’s Islamic Heritage Museum in Ward 8, was unable to join us for technical reasons. See below for important upcoming events. Note, especially, that the museum ordinarily relies on an annual Iftar [Ramadan fast-breaking meal] fund-raising and needs extra support this year to continue its educational and community programming.

AIHM Ramadan Hot Meal Pick-Up Schedule:

7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Tuesday, May 05 and Thursday, May 07
Tuesday, May 12 and Thursday, May 14
Tuesday, May 19 and Thursday, May 21

The museum itself is closed due to Covid-19 and had to cancel its annual Ramadan fund-raiser, so they are in need of support to keep their educational and community programs running. Look for America’s Islamic Heritage Museum on Facebook and the web.

AIHM is located at 2315 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, SE
